Tips for Utilising Ecommerce Web Design Development

Every business faces unique challenges during its growth and development. This could depend on the type of business, to begin with. Those that sell physical products as opposed to services may wish to look into how ecommerce web design development could help boost their sales. The majority of consumers today shop online, finding it to be far cheaper and more convenient than going to a brick and mortar shop. To stay on top of this trend with your business, however, it’s vital to look into the latest forms of technology to ensure that your website makes it easy for consumers to find what they are looking for, presenting items for sale in an attractive way.

The same attention to detail that you might find in a physical clothing store, for example, is what you need to put into your website. Layout and content are all a part of overall custom web application development, which can be put into your ecommerce website. These should be designed to be as user friendly as possible, so that once a potential customer finds what you have to sell, they will want to stay on your site and browse through all that you have to offer. In terms of website applications, you should use a professional service that is capable of carefully planning and testing these before they go live on your site.

To make everything run smoothly, the best custom web development also includes coding and software so that it’s possible for everything to work without a hitch. It doesn’t take very long for consumers to get fed up with websites that don’t load properly or that are difficult to navigate due to faulty software. Experts estimate that you may only have five seconds or less to make that important first impression, so special attention should be paid to the landing page creation to ensure that it is navigable, nice to look at, and intriguing.

Some final factors to consider when you are looking at ecommerce web design development include how you are going to manage your online store. This is something that you can discuss with your design team for best results. Handling inventory, orders, payment systems and payment gateways are all parts of this which should have some thought put into them. There are web applications that can make short work of putting these systems into place, with the right coding and expertise.

Mobile Web Design Development – Critical Issues

As the number of smart phones and tablets increase in the market and with the masses, the market of mobile web design development also grows. The market of mobile applications is also growing dramatically. It has been observed that most of the tools that were being used for traditional web design are also being used mobile web design. Some of the critical issues that come up when dealing with web design are variations in the size of the screen, the elements to draw the attention of the user and the issues pertaining to the usability of the mobile application.

In case of mobile web application the navigation needs to be as simple as possible because it is one of prime considerations for the success of any mobile web application. The navigation for reaching the final pages needs to made as short as possible.

When we compare the desk top application with the mobile application from the visitor’s perspective it can differ a lot. It is quite possible that the purpose of the visitors of mobile applications and desktop applications may vary a lot.

The target of the desk top applications and mobile web application can also vary a lot. The mobile interface should be so focused and simple that it task oriented approach is exhibited.

No Gimmicks

Usually the efficiency of generating business by the mobile application is surprising, just because the mobile web applications are void of gimmicks. The success of the web application depends on its need, its utility, easy functionality, easy navigation and ease to understand it.

Branding and Utility

The placing of the logo on the web page plays a crucial role in the branding of the mobile web site. Usually the mobile applications are designed to exhibit the logo on the top of the web page. The mobile application should be user oriented and designed to cater to the needs of the users.

When the web design is being prepared its utility by the user should be of prime concern. At the end of the day it is final user who runs the mobile website by buying the offerings and generating revenue for sustenance of the website.

Task Orientation of Mobile Website

The mobile website should facilitate the visitor with the needed information in the least number of clicks. Usually the visitor after visiting the mobile sites more than once tries to skip the pages like the welcome message page that has less relevance. This implies that the visitors who have got used to the mobile website will reach the destined pages anyhow but this has to be taken very seriously in case of first time visitors. The visitors of websites try to finish their purpose of visiting the website as soon as possible. So, the mobile website needs to be task oriented.

The content of the mobile website should be to the point and without any beating about the bush. The visitors of website do not like to read lengthy descriptions and subject themselves to lengthy sales pitching.

Web Design & Development – Numerous Approaches & Benefits of It!

Although the art of web design and development may sound little simple and easy going, but this belief is far away from the reality because there are many are many approaches to web design and web development. However, what plays a leading role in the development of a site is its theme and purpose. For example, if the purpose of a business is to spread information and awareness among the people then suggestively its design should be little informative and in sync with the information. If the purpose of the website is to sell products and services then its design has to be from selling point of view and sales undertone. Apart from the above mentioned, there are many other factors that are of importance for example, graphics and images that are presented on a website also play a crucial role, thereby deciding the look of the site and feel of the site.

Thus in simple words it can be said that there are many factors that leads to making of a site beautiful and attractive. However, it is worthy enough to be stated that websites are perfect representative of a business/organization in the vast world of internet, thus it is very necessary for you to pay attention on every minor detail whenever you think of getting web design services. So either you want your website to be generated by web cms or from the old conventional way, you need to properly analyze what all things you actually need to incorporate in it, be it the images, graphics or any other type of designing or functional element.

Never-the-less, it needs to be mentioned that effective web designing is the only one that has a perfect combination of beauty and functionality in it. Also because a perfect website is indeed the one that is highly functional to provide optimum level of comfort to the users and also beautiful enough to catch and retain their attention. It is because of this reason ethical web development and designing (like web design Hong Kong) incorporates a framework to visualize and conceptualize the idea and later for bringing them into action.

Some of the factors that play a promising role in website designing are:
• Theme of the website.
• Purpose of the site.
• Target audience.
• What products or services it will be offering.
• Latest technologies it aims to use.
• Functionalities it has to offer.
• Color combination, images, graphics, font size, title text.
• Budget and many more.

These factors not only contribute heavily to effective web design and development, but also make it smoothly accessible for the users and online visitors, thereby enabling it to attract more of the targeted traffic and add to the business.

Basic Points on Web Design & Development

Web design and development is a unique skill that is focused to create content presentations which can be delivered through the World Wide Web by web site enabled software and other clients to an end user. Web designs may be compared to a book. The website is equal to a book and the web pages are like those of the pages of a book. The websites may also be referred to as information display containers, that contain the data which the particular designer intends to show.

Web design and development can be done by following two frame works of construction viz., digital code and display technology. These frameworks facilitate the maintenance of the website in the World Wide Web environment and also help in releasing multi-format information. Of late computers and information technology has gained so much power that any information needed can be got through the websites. They try to fulfill the increasing demands of the users in a sophisticated way. There are four basic aspects of a web design namely the content, the usability, its appearance and the visibility. The content should contain the information which is relevant to the site that is being created and to be used. These webs should be user-friendly in all ways. Web sites with good graphics and interesting features attract users and the style should also be single and professional.

Relevance to all the above, the content, its usability and appearance should be maintained in all its web pages. Most of all it is important to maintain clear visibility and the web site should be easily accessible through major search engines and other advertisement media. The non design aspects like writing markup, coding etc refers to the web design and development. They can be developed as single static simple web page or a complex site. Large teams are put together for the development of websites in bigger organizations. People developing websites may be called as web developers or web masters. The work depends upon the website to be created, techniques and information to be loaded and the company that creates.

The cost of web design and development has considerably come down during these years and the techniques are also very simple. The basic and typical web development criteria are client side coding containing CSS, XHTML and server side coding like PHP, ASP.NET, MySQL, Java etc,. Other interdisciplinary skills like graphic designing, architecture and copywriting are followed by web designers to keep up with the demand of the company and the public. With these any website may be developed according to the masters requirements. Web design and development has become crucial these days as the demand for information is on the increase and the sophistication with which such sites are created increases their usage.

The Best Advice About I’ve Ever Written

Factors To Look At When Beginning a Web Design/Development and SEO Campaign

Each web design and marketing project is unique and brings it’s very own set of obstacles and challenges. Often when beginning work with a new client, a design professional and marketing consultant (I use the terms together since one practically can’t go without the other these days) will need to look at the scope of the project and the goals of the client to determine the best methods for building and marketing that business.

I have recently been approached by a few different companies and noticed that absolutely none of these companies have the same needs… not that I was trying to fit each of these companies into the same box. A potential client is always concerned with getting the best bang for their buck and since SEO is a long process they want to make sure that their investment is being utilized wisely. Totally understand!

In this article I will attempt to address some of the issues web design and development professionals, as well as search engine optimization (SEO) consultants, are faced with when beginning the execution of a campaign.

Get a Feel For Your Potential Client

  • Determine if you are a good fit for each other. Having a functional work relationship will only make each of your lives easier. That company is coming to you for advice and even though you are not technically working for the same company you are definitely going to be in each others lives for some time to come. Evaluate each other and determine if your personalities and works styles mesh well together. It is okay to politely tell a client that you aren’t the right fit for the project and refer them to somebody else who may be.
  • Learn about their company. This is important on so many different levels. The niche a company falls under will initially determine the design of the site. Certain types of companies needs a certain look and feel. From a marketing standpoint, certain niches bring more or less competition so determining these factors will help map out a campaign. Perform keyword research revolving around your clients main terms to help them understand what you are up against from an SEO standpoint.
  • National or Local? Some clients may be running an national eCommerce campaign or blog while other may only want to target customers in a specific geographic location. Optimizing for each requires a different approach so determine immediately what the project will require so it can be executed properly.
  • Who are their main competitors? As an SEO professional this will give you an idea about what kind of campaigns other companies are running and why they may or may not be successful. This way you can look at how those sites are set up and what kind of link building campaigns they may be running.
  • Keep the lines of communication open!!! This business revolves around relationships! Even 12th State Creative gets contacted by SEO companies pitching their services so maintaining a positive, professional business relationship is very important. Each SEO can be replaced and there are many of us. The client is paying for your services so always be very transparent with what you are doing. They have the right to know and absolutely deserve to know what they are paying for!

Existing Site?

  • Has the company already built a site? This is important for many reasons.
  • SEO is based around good, clean code. Often times I have people contact me who outsourced development to somebody overseas. While the project may have been completed they were left with jumbled, deprecated code which has been preventing good organic search results. Audit the existing site and determine where errors and issues occur.
  • What CMS is being used? Was the site built using WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Square Space, or some other content management system and should you convert the existing site to another CMS? Certain content management systems are more user friendly and SEO friendly. I am personally a huge fan of WordPress and recommend all clients use that. It is easy to modify and very easy to teach a new client. There are also times when we will convert clients within WordPress itself. Avoid templates if at all possible! They are not easily customizable and will prevent problems in the future. NEVER use drag and drop web building programs.
  • Perform a Website Audit! If another marketing company worked on the site (and did it for cheap) then most likely there are going to be major flaws in the code and the existing marketing campaign.
  • Look at all content. See if it is thin, or stuffed with keywords, or has any characteristic of poorly written content that could get the site penalized by search engines. Make sure the content is properly structured using the right hierarchy of header tags. Observe blogs posts and see if they are tagged and categorized efficiently.
  • Look at meta data. This is most obvious and the most overlooked! Make sure all titles and descriptions are properly written targeting the correct keywords for each page. Do not put too much emphasis on meta keywords since these are not really relevant to search engines anymore.
  • Account creation. Has the site been setup with Google Analytics and all of the proper Webmaster Tools Accounts (Google, Bing, etc.) yet? Have they been properly configured?
  • Link building strategy! What kind of link building campaign is being run. If a company hired somebody with the “1000 links for 100 dollars” approach then chances are they are being penalized by search engines. Dig into their links to see if they have been penalized or over optimized.
  • Content creation. Does the company already have an established content creation strategy? If so look at the quality of the content to see if it is spun or duplicated. If so then you have trouble. Is it well written and optimized properly?
  • Directory submissions. Has the company already been submitted to the major directories such as DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, Best of the Web, etc. If so great! Are they submitted to too many low quality directories? This can negatively effect the site.

New Site and Campaign?

  • I prefer to start a project from scratch. Doing so can help you avoid the pitfalls of whoever was designing and running the campaign before you. Creating a new site gives you the freedom to build and structure a site exactly as you want and create content, build links, and market a company through their social media channels accordingly. It is much easier to avoid penalties and mistakes then correct penalties and mistakes.
  • Use a friendly CMS and teach your client exactly how to use it. Making small changes every couple of days is not only time consuming for you, but also expensive for the client. Teaching them how to get around their new site will allow them the freedom to make small changes to content when they feel fit.
  • Design a site that users can easily navigate and feel comfortable with. Map out the navigation and structure of the site. The user has to enjoy looking at and using a site for it to be useful. Web design professionals should work with the client to design a site that they are comfortable with and that users will be comfortable with as well. After all… it is the client who is paying for the site.
  • Determine if cross channel marketing is necessary. Sometimes targeting just organic results is not enough. Explore the possibility of conducting a PPC or social media campaign as well. Just to name a few options. This will help to draw new and different types of traffic.
  • Create a content creation schedule. Unique, original content can’t be emphasized enough. Determine targeted topics that are relevant to users and other professionals as well. If the content is useful then so is the site and traffic and results will greatly benefit from it.
  • Build clean links. This is tricky and important. Start with creating good content. Then determine the best way to communicate with other users. Having a strong and natural link profile will greatly benefit results. Try guest blogging!

These are a few of the issues and possible solutions I cross whenever beginning work on a new project. Sometimes the answers are not always clear cut, but analytically thinking about a project and what is needed for each client with help produce quality results and leads.

With dreams of high income and free-from-boss tension, the new freelancers experience things that make them think to join a job again. Its not easy, definitely not easy to become a freelancer. You have to compromise on a lot of things. I will be sharing some 5 quick and foremost tips for a freelancer starting career.

1. Regular Income

This is a tip that I didn’t follow myself. But its the most important tip of all others. You will see this on every freelancing guide website and blogs. I am quoting it too. Never leave your permanent job unless you think that you’ve become independent of your current job for living. Most of new freelancers resign and the next day they are freelancing. They don’t find work and become disappointed.

2. Patience

That’s the truth. Patience. For a new web designer or developer, it is must to have a high patience ability. You wont be finding much work or may be wont find any work at all in that start. But you have to keep your self patient. Best things, besides trying harder to find jobs, in these starting days is to build things that you are master of. If you are a web designer, spend time on building an attractive portfolio of sample work. If you are a developer try developing some plugins, widgets or other code snippets and share it in the community. Most probably your first job will be only of few bucks, accept it and work hard for client positive feedback.

3. Market Trends – Specialization

If you are new freelancer (web designer or developer), try to study the latest trends in the market. Study design trends. Whats most people like about the current design. What are good designers design’s characteristics. And whats applications are there in the market that people like. This is debatable, but you must master your self of a specific field if possible. Like if you are PHP developer, you can master in joomla, WordPress, oscommerce and other CMS systems.

4. Social Media Marketing

Yes, you have to market yourself a lot if you are new one. Create an account on twitter, tweet about your field relating and current trends. Try to follow people you are inspired with. Create your professional profiles on other social networks like linked-in. Submit your services to freelance marketplaces. Try to share your knowledge with others in some forum or blogs. Write your provided services information in your mail signatures.

5. Keep Learning/Sharing

Keep learning. Follow some blogs related to your field. Try to learn a new language tool while you find job. If you already knew something important, do create a blog post for it and share it on twitter. Always keep yourself equipped with the latest news in your field. In this case, even if you aren’t landing jobs, then at least you are fueling yourself for better ones.

Web Design Development Promotes Business

Web design which was once upon a time considered luxury or subsidiary has now become a prime necessity. The internet has revolutionized the market. Some of the prominent factors and reasons for this kind of drastic change in the business world are as follows.

Buyer preferences:-

The buyers now want the maximum possible services. They want to order the products or services as well as its delivery from the comfort of the home or office. They do want to travel during the rush hours and undergo the stress of driving through the traffic. They neither want to waste time nor burn the gas for reaching the shopping malls. The buyers want the product or the service to be delivered to them where they require it. There are buyers who do not want to get embarrassed by the price of the product. It is a basic human psychology of feeling insulted when the price quoted for any product or service is not affordable. These are some of the prime aspects where the e-commerce websites have an edge over the traditional shops. A business website facilitates the buyer with buying and paying the bills without leaving the comfort of the home or residence.

The cost of middlemen is got rid off because usually the website acts as a medium to connect the buyer directly with the manufacturer. This means that the product or the service is going to be cheaper that the traditional market price.

The internet has penetrated deep into the residences and offices that are normally not accessible to the best of the sales or business representative. The business need not employ extra personnel for billing or pitching forth the prospective buyer. Internet has proved to be a cheaper way to have accesses to the prospective buyer.

In these times of competition, no business can afford losing even a single buyer. The number of people doing the shopping through the websites is increasing exponentially. This does not mean that the traditional shopping is dead. It is still prevailing. Nowadays it is just not enough to have a shop in market place. The business needs to make its presence felt in the virtual world of the internet through a user friendly and search engine friendly website.

By making the website search engine friendly, the website tends to attract more traffic. Here traffic refers to the number of clicks on the website. When the website is search engine friendly, it is easy to deploy the strategies of search engine optimization. This hauls up the ranking of the website Uniform Resource Locator in the search engine list. The URLs featuring on the top of the list receive the highest number of clicks. There are many visitors and buyers that first log in to the search engines to find the websites of their interest by entering the key words or key word phrases in the search engine box.

Best Practices for Mobile Web Design & Development

In the last few years, mobile usage has increased by approximately 40% whereas the use of desktop has come down from 90% to a mere 60%. This is due to the mobility our smartphones offer. If the trend continues, it will be not long when our mobile phones will upstage desktop accession. Usually the easiest way for designers to design a mobile website is to scale down desktop website and make it responsive. This is surely a poor strategy. Instead of scaling down the website, the designers need to examine the client’s business and assess the importance of mobile usage for the client’s business.

Designing responsive mobile websites is quite challenging since they come in so many variants and sizes. Here is a list of 7 best practices the designers can adopt while designing and developing mobile websites.

  • Focused and clear content: People use mobiles on the go. When they are in a rush, still want the piece of news. Small mobile scenes with touch do not make navigation easier either. To design for mobile websites, the rules have to be minimal. Each page should have a central focus or point of emphasis. The key is to making the mobile experience easier for them instead of many swipe or move to next page gestures. These will be noticed easily and appreciated by mobile users and make their experience smoother.
  • Keep menu and navigation simple: A drop down menu is a good option to save space on the already small mobile screens. Try avoiding multi-level menus and instead keep it simple and accessible. An individual should not go through several levels of navigation menus to find what they are looking for. Keeping the menu and navigation to minimal will keep the focus on the key message.
  • Touch design: With keypad mobiles making way for touchscreen mobiles, designing needs extra level of care. The designers have to account for fingers of all shapes and sizes that are going to operate the mobiles with varying pressures. They need to make sure that the buttons, forms and other elements that require touch gestures are large enough to avoid overlapping. The evaluation of touch to your website design and taking adequate steps to incorporate is an important step.
  • Fluid layouts: Many mobiles mean varying sizes and dimensions. Keep this in mind while designing websites for mobiles. A flexible and fluid layout ensures that the website displays correctly on different screen sizes. Devices are not going to work according to your fixed break pints. Look for designing fluid responsive websites that go beyond fixed break points.
  • Image drop: Mobile devices mainly rely on two things – size and speed. Unnecessary images like gradients and shadows end up achieving nothing when it comes to mobile devices. Learning the basics of CSS and applying it to mobile websites is a good idea. Keep text and effects to the minimal. The fewer the images and effects the better user experience you can guarantee. This will also affect your website’s footprint and page load time.
  • Minimal forms: Keeping forms small and minimal will lead to better mobile user experience. A separate form for mobile users can be incorporated that included minimal fields and just enough data to be collected. Forms that are longer than a single screen need progress bar indicating to the users how far they have come. Make scanning fields easier by including top aligned labels. This will also aid in higher number of website conversions.
  • Advantage mobile features: Different mobiles have different features such as GPS and other sensors. Figuring out the usage of these features to make the mobile experience richer for your website is a good call. Adding simple features like ‘tap to call’ on the phone number on the contact age, for example, is how you can leverage mobile features. This part needs out of the box thinking on the art of the designers, thus making the usage more functional for the users.
